Come vi dicevo nel post precedente adoro le manicure a tema, e non vedevo l'ora di realizzare qualcosa di nuovo per celebrare la Festa della Repubblica. Non essendo assolutamente dotata nelle nail art a mano libera, ho pensato di utilizzare una tecnica molto carina e relativamente semplice anche per le imbranate come me: Water Marble, ovvero la manicure effetto marmorizzato!
As I said in the previous post I love themed manicures, and I couldn't wait to make something new for Italian Republic Day.
Since I have no nail art skills I thought I'd use a nice and easy technique: Water Marble.
Purtroppo il rosso che avevo usato già la scorsa volta, utilizzato in questo modo, mi ha dato un colore rosato che ha falsato il tutto, e la mia manicure idealmente patriottica si è trasformata in un gelato tre gusti. Non ho tempo in questi giorni per riprovare con un altro colore, ma ne voglio approfittare per spiegarvi questa tecnica passo-passo. Spero che vi possa tornare utile.
Unfortunately the shade of red I used last time turns pink-ish when used for the marble, so my mani came out nothing like the patriotic marvel I imagined. It looks more like a sundae.
I have no time to try do it with a different shade or formula, but I thought I'd just take the chance to make a step-by-step tutorial. I hope you find it helpful.
Siccome ho fatto tutto da sola e dovevo muovermi in fretta per non far asciugare lo smalto mentre era ancora nell'acqua, non sono riuscita a fare foto di tutti i passaggi. Cercherò di essere il più possibile esaustiva con le parole laddove mancano le illustrazioni.
Since I did everything on my own and I had to move fast I couldn't take pics of every step. I'll try to be as exhaustive as I can where there are no photos.
Cosa vi serve:
- Accessori base per la vostra manicure (lima per unghie, spingi-cuticole, tronchesine)
- Base per smalto
- Smalti di almeno 2-3 colori
- Olio per cuticole o semplice olio vegetale, io ho usato olio extravergine d'oliva
- Cotton Fioc
- Un piccolo recipiente in vetro, ceramica o plastica dura dall'apertura abbastanza larga.
- Stuzzicadenti
- Ovatta
- Solvente per unghie
You'll need:
- Basic manicure tools (nail file, cuticle pusher, cuticle nipper)
- Basecoat
- At least 2-3 different nail polish shades
- Cuticle oil, or just any oil really, I used extra-virgin olive oil.
- Cotton swabs
- A small bowl made of glass, ceramic or hard plastic.
- Toothpicks
- Cotton pads
- Polish remover
I colori che ho scelto sono gli stessi che avevo usato per la semplice manicure a dita alternate, cioè:The colors I picked are the same I used in my simple Italian Flag Manicure:
- OPI Jade is the new black
- China Glaze White on White
- Kiko 238 Rosso Martha
Step 1
Preparatevi alla manicure come al solito: limate le unghie, spingete indietro le cuticole e, se necessario, tagliate le pellicine.Questo passo è molto importante: se la linea delle cuticole è precisa, farete molta meno fatica al momento di ripulire il contorno dell'unghia.
Alla fine, applicate uno strato di base per smalto, che vi aiuterà a far durare di più la manicure ed a non macchiare le unghie.
Prepare your mani as usual: file your nails, push back cuticles and trim if you need. This is very important, if your cuticle line is neat you'll have a much easier time cleaning off the excess. Finally apply your basecoat.
Step 2Applicate una o due passate del vostro colore di base. Sceglietene uno che contrasti con gli altri. Non preoccupatevi se a questo punto non è coprente al 100%: nel momento in cui aggiungerete il vostro strato marmorizzato non si noterà nulla.
La prima volta che ho provato a fare la marble manicure non avevo applicato un colore di base ma solo una base trasparente, ed è stato molto più difficile poi pulire i contorni dell'unghia. Lo smalto colorato farà da base al vostro lavoro e vi renderà molto più facile vedere dove far aderire lo strato marmorizzato.

Step 3
Con l'aiuto di un bastoncino cotonato o di un pennellino, spalmate abbondantemente l'olio sulle cuticole e sotto l'unghia, estendendovi all'intera prima falange. C'è chi copre il dito con dello scotch, ma io ho trovato questo metodo molto più pratico: l'olio impedisce allo smalto di aderire, e se rimuovete l'eccesso immediatamente dopo aver immerso il dito, verrà via come una pellicola e vi resterà da fare solo la pulitura "di fino".

Riempite il vostro contenitore con dell'acqua a temperatura ambiente. È importante che l'acqua non sia troppo fredda, altrimenti lo smalto non si espanderà.

Adesso si inizia a giocare! Tenete tutte le vostre boccette di smalto a portata di mano e già aperte, perché dovrete muovervi molto in fretta. Iniziate aggiungendo all'acqua una goccia del colore più chiaro. La prima volta, potrebbe essere necessario aggiungere più di una goccia per far sì che lo smalto si espanda.Let's start playing! Keep your polish bottles ready and open, cause you'll need to move quickly. Start with your palest shade, you need to add more than a drop at first to allow it to expand.
Step 6
Aggiungete quindi uno ad uno gli altri colori, alternandoli ed eventualmente ripetendoli, a vostro piacimento. Qui dovrete sperimentare un po', alcuni colori si espandono più di altri, quindi dovrete fare un po' di prove per capire com'è meglio alternarli. Ad esempio nel mio caso, ho notato che il rosso si espande moltissimo tingendo quasi tutta l'acqua di un colore rosato, mentre il verde resta molto più compatto, dando proprio quell'effetto di venatura del marmo.Dovrò provare con un rosso a base più calda e con formulazioni diverse, ma ho il timore che tutti i rossi siano così, del resto è l'effetto che fanno anche quando li si toglie, tingono il batuffolo, le dita e tutto il mondo circostante -.-'
Step 7Con la punta di uno stuzzicadenti, toccate leggermente la superficie dell'acqua, mischiando i colori a vostro piacimento. Potete partire dall'esterno e spostarvi verso il centro o viceversa, muovervi in diagonale, insomma date spazio alla fantasia. Se il risultato non vi piace, muovete lo stuzzicadenti in senso circolare affondandolo un po' di più nell'acqua: lo smalto si attaccherà tutto al bastoncino, e la vostra acqua sarà pulita e potrete ricominciare da capo.

Step 8Immergete l'unghia nell'acqua, usate lo stuzzicadenti per rimuovere l'eccesso di smalto che rimane intorno al dito, per evitare che, tirandolo fuori, si ripieghi su sé stesso e vi rovini il disegno. Potete tirar fuori il dito quasi subito, non è necessario aspettare.

Sempre con lo stuzzicadenti tracciate leggermente il contorno dell'unghia facendo aderire bene la vostra pellicola di smalto nei laterali.

Usate lo stuzzicadenti per staccare la pellicola di smalto dalla pelle. Come dicevo al passo 3, se effettuate subito questa operazione lo smalto si staccherà molto facilmente perché l'olio gli impedisce di aderire. Pulite gli eventuali residui con un cotton fioc imbevuto di solvente.

Step 11Appena l'unghia sarà asciutta, potete aggiungere il vostro top coat, ricordandovi di non pressare troppo il pennellino, altrimenti potreste rovinare il disegno.
Ed ecco la vostra unghia effetto marmo completata! Siete soddisfatte? Ora ve ne restano solo altre 9 da decorare ^_^

Effettivamente si tratta di un lavoro abbastanza lungo, ma trovo che sia anche divertente ed offre una gamma infinita di possibili varianti. Io sono riuscita a completare tutto in un'oretta, e si trattava della mia prima marble manicure completa. Prima d'ora avevo solo provato su una o due unghie, e i risultati nei primissimi tentativi erano stati anche abbastanza disastrosi.It's a quite long job, but I find it fun and there so many possible variations. I did it all in about an hour, and it was my first complete water marble mani. Before I had only tried on a couple nails.
